BALSAMS Cooking Classes

FEEL THE HEAT IN THE BALSAMS KITCHENS

“Tastes of The BALSAMS” Classes Give Guests the Chance to Cook with the Pros;  Classes Return January 19-21 and February 2-4

Dixville Notch, N.H.  – Learning to prepare food worthy enough to be served in The BALSAMS dining room takes years of practice and dedication to the art of cooking.  Many BALSAMS chefs train in the resort’s famous culinary apprentice program for three years – but this winter, guests can spend three days learning from these professionals at the “Tastes of The BALSAMS” cooking school.

During the classes, guests will meet with a number of chefs and work alongside them in The BALSAMS kitchens to produce a delicious meal.  The classes run Wednesday through Friday in January and February.  Upon arrival Wednesday evening, guests will enjoy a meet and greet reception with the chefs.  Thursday is devoted to cooking lessons where each participant will assist in the preparation of a four-course luncheon.  Wine stewards will be on hand to help select wines to properly match each course.  The program concludes on Friday as participants, guests and faculty chefs sit down to enjoy the meal served in the Grand Dining Room.

“Tastes of The BALSAMS” classes cost $350.00 per person, including lunch on the second and third day.  Each participant may bring a guest to the luncheons.  This price does not include accommodations.

Each cooking class has a different theme:

    ●  January 19-21:  Pairing of Food and Wine
    ●  February 2-4:    Tour of Italy

Executive Chef Berry is a graduate of The BALSAMS Culinary Apprentice program, and worked in Europe and at other fine resorts and hotels for a number of years, before recently returning to The BALSAMS.  During the “Tastes of The BALSAMS” classes, he and the rest of the culinary team will share their secrets and techniques of preparing exquisite cuisine.  “At The BALSAMS, dining is truly an experience.  These classes will teach our guests how to bring that experience into their own dining rooms at home.”

The BALSAMS “Inn-Bedded Resorter” Goes Canadian

Canadian Social Media Travel Superstars Alex & Luke Will Share their Winter Adventures in January & February at The BALSAMS

Dixville Notch, NH – On the heels of its first-ever, and highly successful summer “Inn-Bedded Resorter” campaign, The BALSAMS Grand Resort Hotel is importing Canadian social media travel superstars Alex and Luke to share their winter adventures at the resort.

The team of Alex and Luke have spent the past year criss-crossing North America, sharing all of their traveling adventures, and involving their thousands of followers using their website www.alexandluke.com, social media tools like Facebook, Twitter, Gowalla and more.

Continuing to add to the “firsts” and its trend as one of the most social media savvy hotels in the industry, The BALSAMS will welcome Alex and Luke as its first couple, and its first winter Inn-Bedded Resorters during the month of January and February.  As guests of the resort, the pair will experience all of the fine dining and outdoor adventures The BALSAMS has to offer, and share them with the world – as they happen – using social media.  Alex and Luke will also explore other North Country activities that BALSAMS guest often enjoy when visiting the resort.

Followers can join in the adventure by helping Alex and Luke choose their activities, whether its skiing and snowboarding, ice skating, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, 95 kilometers of Nordic adventures and even what incredible dishes they’ll experience each evening in the famed BALSAMS dining room.  Fans of Alex and Luke can continue to follow them on their channels as well as The BALSAMS social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and the Inn-Bedded Resorter Blog.

“Guests of the hotel and BALSAMS social media followers really enjoyed following Martin Earley, our first-ever Inn-Bedded Resorter this summer and we’re excited to be welcoming Alex and Luke for January,” said Jeff McIver, President and General Manger of The BALSAMS.  “By expanding the Resorter and including two people we think followers will have an even greater opportunity to experience the magic of a BALSAMS winter.”

The Inn-Bedded Resorter campaign was created by bobdonpaul.com, the marketing agency for The BALSAMS as a means to give followers a sense of what it’s like to experience everything the 8,000 acre resort has to offer.  “I personally have followed Alex and Luke since very early on in their journey, and not only do they bring a wealth of social media experience to their roles as the first-ever winter Resorters, but as Canadians, they represent an important market not only for The BALSAMS but for tourism in the State of New Hampshire,” said Bob Manley, Head Chef and Bottle Washer of bobdonpaul.com.

Likewise, Alex and Luke followed the Resorter campaign and are looking forward to adding their own twist and engaging with their long-time followers and those of The BALSAMS social media channels.

“We enjoyed following the summer Resorter campaign, even as we traveled around the United States on our own adventures, so we’re excited to continue the campaign and share our experiences not only with our followers but those of The BALSAMS as well,” said Luke Vigeant.

“One of the things that our followers really enjoyed was that every day we would engage with them through social media and give them control of what we did and where we went, and we’re going to continue to do that at The BALSAMS, while giving them a chance to win some goodies” added Alex Sabine.  “If nothing else, as a novice skier and snowboarder, our followers will really enjoy watching me and telling me what to try on the slopes of The BALSAMS ski area!”
