Recent studies have shown what folks in the travel industry have been noticing for the past several months—the economic downturn of the past year is reshaping the tourism landscape. History and tradition abound at this NH grand hotel. For example, you may know that New Hampshire is the first state to vote in the presidential primary. But did you also know that Dixville Notch is the first town to vote in each primary as well? Citizens gather in The Balsams’ Ballot Room at midnight on primary day to cast their votes.
Over the years, many presidential candidates have visited Dixville Notch. If they needed lodging, guess where they spent the night? Of course, The Balsams! Below is a short list of presidents and the more notable presidential candidates who’ve been guests at The Balsams.
