Nearly every type of famous person you can imagine has stayed at this remote New Hampshire vacation spot.  Here’s a list of just some of the popular comedians who’ve dropped by over the decades….

Jack Benny - “Master of the pregnant pause.”   Born in the late 1890s but “always 39,” the radio/tv/film star is generally considered one of America’s top entertainers in the 20th century.

Stu Gilliam – Guest star on Get Smart and The Hollywood Palace, Gilliam also had roles on The Harlem Globetrotters cartoon and played Corporal Williams on Roll Out in the early 70s.

Dennis Leary - A long-time New England resident and philanthropist, Leary stars in Rescue Me, but also made appearances in Natural Born Killers, Wag the Dog and The Thomas Crown Affair.  His charity, the Leary Firefighters Foundation, has distributed almost $3 million to fire departments in the Northeast.  He’s been nominated for four Emmys.

Norm Crosby – Another new England man, at least by birth, Crosby became a big draw at Bally’s Casino in Las Vegas in the early 50s, teaming with Ethan Eichrodt and Tom Jones.  He was also a guest star on Laugh-in and the Jerry Lewis Telethon.

Lewis himself has stayed at The Balsams as well and is featured under “Famous Actors
