Put on your dancing shoes and get ready for a sensational weekend of ballroom dancing at this NH vacation spot! The professional dance team of Maria Brown and Raymond Huard will be coming to The Balsams Grand Resort Hotel to treat guests to the energy and excitement of ballroom dancing through demonstration, instruction, and an elegant ball during the weekend of March 5th and 6th.
Maria and Raymond are both instructors at Paper Moon Dance Center in Merrimack, NH, as well as competition dance partners. Maria opened Paper Moon Dance Center in June of 2003, and Ray was one of the first teachers to join the staff. They began training together in American Smooth in January of 2009 and have since been finalists at competitions throughout New England.
“’I’ve always wanted to learn to ballroom dance’ is something we hear again and again,” says Maria. “You book the weekend and we’ll take care of the rest!” She points out that the dance weekend is an opportunity for couples to have a romantic getaway and spend some time together, or can also be a great family activity, “because grandparents, parents and youths can do it together (recommended for ages 11-111)!”
The weekend will start with a wine and cheese reception, followed by a Table d’Hote five-course dinner on Friday evening. The dance team will then wow guests with a sparkling Exhibition Routine performance in the Switzerland of America Ballroom. On Saturday morning, the lessons begin. Maria and Raymond will offer three sessions of instruction. “We’ll have you dancing Swing, Waltz, Salsa and much more by the time the weekend’s through, and you’ll smile the whole time!” Private lessons will also be available at a special rate. The pinnacle of the weekend will be on Saturday evening, as guests will put their skills to the dance floor at a classic ballroom gala and enjoy a magical night of music and dancing.
Guests who sign up for this special event will also enjoy the spectacular setting and accommodations of this New Hampshire hotel, which include The Balsams famous buffet breakfast each morning, a Grand Dinner Buffet on Saturday night, and use of all of the resort’s facilities, including complimentary Alpine and Nordic ski passes.
After a weekend of ballroom dancing at this NH ski resort, “you won’t be the one sitting on the sidelines at weddings and company parties,” says Maria, “you’ll be the one enjoying yourself as you dance the night away!”

Hello Carrie,
Very true, when people learn to ballroom dance it’s a fantastic skill they can take anywhere with them. It sounds like a lovely event that is put on, there are similar things around here but don’t seem as nice. I have been dancing for a while and enjoy it, perhaps when i next go visit friends in US, I may drop in for a waltz!
