Have any of your screen heroes stayed at The Balsams Grand Resort Hotel? Many of the actors who’ve spent their New Hampshire vacation here are household names. Below are just a few names you may recall.
Groucho Marx: Apparently he brought Harpo and Chico along. Strangely, they say Harpo never discussed his delightful New Hampshire vacation.
Kurt Russell: Did you know he auditioned for the role of Han Solo in Star Wars?
Margaret O’Brien from Murder She Wrote: Unlike Angela Lansbury, she probably didn’t have much crime to write about. New Hampshire is America’s safest state.
Jerry Lewis: The New Hampshire resort lists this philanthropic comedian’s visit but doesn’t go into detail.
Will Rogers: The famous tourist questioned whether he should be listed as an actor, saying “I’m not a real movie star. I’ve still got the same wife I started out with twenty-eight years ago.”
We’re not sure all five superstars were technically “on vacation” the whole time; an actor’s work goes where he goes. But it’s a safe bet these entertainers had some fun while they were at the New Hampshire resort, and we’re sure you will as well!

There is a hallway full of photos on the first guest room floor, showing the wonderful history The Balsams Grand Resorts has of entertaining notable guests. Of course, The Balsams treats us all as notable guests!
