Access to The BALSAMS 8,000-acre estate affords guests the chance to create their own adventures. Hike near or far on an extensive trail network that also provides walking and mountain biking opportunities. Beautiful Lake Gloriette is available for canoeing, kayaking and fly-fishing. Children enjoy the outdoor playground area and heated swimming pool. With seasonal activities such as golf, tennis, alpine and Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating and dog-sledding, vacationing at The BALSAMS becomes an anticipated event for every member of the family.
 

Some of the most enthusiastic guests of The BALSAMS are children. There is always so much to do, and so many new experiences to try. Our entire resort's child entertainment environment is safe and very well attended, yet encouraging for children to explore new adventures and feel a genuine sense of freedom.

The Camp Wind Whistle for ages 5+ will begin on Monday, June 28th and finish Labor Day Weekend September 5th.  The children are divided into three age brackets (5-7), (8,9) and (10+).  The program begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m. everyday.  If parents wish there are three options: Morning session from 9:00 a.m.-12:00, and afternoon session from 1:30-4:00 p.m.  The third option is to enroll your child in an all day experience.  Lunch is between 12:30-1:30.  Counselors may bring the children into the dining room or the children may have lunch with family.  Dinner and evening program is also available upon request.  Children must be in the program during a session to be able to participate in the evening session.  The evening session is from 6:30-9:00 p.m.

Children under the age of 5 are welcome with either a parent, adult or a BALSAMS babysitter.  They are most welcome to attend the activities with the proper "adult" with them.  The BALSAMS has a roster of qualified babysitters for your needs during the day and evening hours.  The policy is to have at least 48 hours notice to have the Recreation Director find the most appropriate match for you.  You may either call at (603) 255-2541 or email jkennedy@thebalsams.com for information about the babysitting policies and procedures.

Activities that are fun for children include:playground,farm trips, poolside games, boating, game room,tennis, golf, crafts, and movies.  Rainy days will include activities such as: Bingo, scavenger searches, game room tournaments such as air hockey, pingpong, dance dance revolution, and many others!

For "older" children The BALSAMS is planning on offering trips for ropes course ideas, horseback riding and even "Rolling" Dog Sled Adventures!
