Days at The BALSAMS are filled with simple pleasures. Sun-filled porches with cozy wicker chairs and cheerful cushions. An elegant dining room displaying crisp white napkins and the finest china. Creative flower gardens, gorgeous views of the mountains, places for solitude and room to play. Spacious and inviting, the accommodations at The BALSAMS reflect the charm of a traditional New England Grand Resort where guests can relax and feel at home in comfortable surroundings.

The BALSAMS welcomes you and your furry friends. Pet friendly lodging is provided at The BALSAMS Inn only, and these rooms are limited, so please book your stay in advance. Your pets must be declared upon check-in.

Our pet-friendly accommodations will include the use of a food and water dish, place mat, and dog bed in your room, as well as doggie treats, a pooper-scooper with disposable gloves and bags. A $25 non-refundable charge will be added to the room charge.

The BALSAMS is dedicated to "creating special experiences, one guest at a time." We will take all the necessary measures to ensure the safety and comfort of all Hotel guests and pets, so we ask that you observe a few simple rules:

  • A maximum of two well-behaved canines, per room, are permitted.
  • Around the Hotel, please keep your pet on a leash. Animals may not be allowed to run free, for their own protection, as well as the safety and comfort of other Hotel guests.
  • To gain access for the front door to the lawn area, please either walk around the East end of the Hampshire House or walk through the Scenic Patio. As a consideration to our other guests, we ask that you not bring your pet into other public areas.
  • Please do not have your pet accompany you to meals, as health regulations do not allow them in food service areas.
  • When walking pets on the property, please be considerate of other guests, and clean up after your pet.
  • Pets must be attended to at all times. Pets must not be left alone in Hotel rooms. Even the most well-behaved pets become highly stressed when left alone in a strange place. The recreational staff would be happy to arrange a pet ambassador to doggy-sit or walk your pet, while you enjoy other activities.
  • Service animals are always allowed. Pet owners will be liable for any additional cleaning bills or repairs that should be required.
