Winter Recreation & Activities at The BALSAMS

Outdoor Activities

Enjoy the winter wonderland of The BALSAMS.  A skating rink is available for guests to enjoy skating, hockey, or broomball games.  The Recreation will provide equipment for a fun-filled game of broomball for guests of all ages.  Skating parties?  Occasionally, the activity board will list a skating party.  Smores, hot chocolate and music are provided while the guests enjoy the opportunity to skate.  Hockey games are organized by the individual family needs.

Any time to go snowshoeing?  The BALSAMS winter terrain includes snowshoeing.  Every day a guide will lead you on a wonderful experience.  Whether you are looking for a trail as a beginner or an experienced hiker, The BALSAMS will provide that for you.  Come by the cross country center for trail advice or join us to the guided hike!

Sleigh Rides

The price is $20 per person and the sleigh can accommodate up to 7 adults at one time.  The experience is about 45 minutes in length.  Children are welcome as well!  Sign up is available through Sarah Dole at the Base Lodge at 603-255-3951.

Indoor Activities

If playing in the snow isn't your style, then wine tastings, culinary demonstrations, movies & billiard tournaments await you inside. Live apres ski entertainment will be over at The Base Lodge with talented musician Tim Dion on Friday and Saturday afternoons. Hors d'Oeuvres daily before dinner will surely  bring everyone together before the evening starts.

"Fast Forward" featuring Jim Conners will provide nightly music & solo pianists will provide dinner music in the Dining Room.

Artisans will be visiting the property to offer demonstrations and workshops.  See the listing under artisans.

Speakers throughout New England will share stories, pictures, and their passion about their topic. Join us on a Sunday evening for a wonderful presentation.

The BALSAMS also provides the guests with a full room of video games, air hockey, pinball and other games.  Ping pong, board games, and puzzles are also available for guests to enjoy.  Nightly are game room tournaments to challenge youngsters (and adults too!) against each other to win prizes and BALSAMS Bucks!
